OHURA DAIRYING.
PROPOSED NEW FACTORY
A meeting to discuss the question of establishing a butter factory at Mangaroa was held on Wednesday evening last. Mr G. Loveday, chairman of the Ohura County Council, Dresided, and outlined a scheme. He said the settlers had already expressed their willingness to guarantee cows up to the number of GOO, and doubtleas a good many more would come in, when the district was canvassed. A site had been offered for the factory on the Huhatahi Flat by Mr Williams on extremely favourable terms. One acre was to be given free and another acre at a cost of .£4O, to be paid in shares. The time was ripe for the starting of the industry, and he thought the prospects for success were excellent.
A committee consisting of Messrs G. Loveday, F. Blank, S. Currie, S. Meredith and W. McKay was appointed to canvass the settlers and ascertain the number of cows which would be guaranteed.
