Mapara.
On March nth there wag a large meeting of settlers hold at Mr Korrock's home to discuss school matters. A school is sadly needed .for the district and the principal drawback at present is the dispute about sites. This, I thinU. should not be considered by the [education Hoard- perhaps it is a good excuse- -and a school should be erected irrespective of persons on the site set apart for so doing. This school business is an urgent matter as many children in the block have been miming wild for the past IS months. Hoys and girls have got to go 10 work soon enough and it seems a shame that any petty differences should militate in their youthful days being waste:!. There are many settlors who are willing to abide by the inspector's decision as regards site, and it is to lie sincerely hope;! that the present wrangling will come to an amicable end at an early date. At. a recent meeiingof the Settlers' Association it was decided to elect the chairman from month to month, for some little time. Settlers are expecting their grass soul this week. Many intend to make an immediate start—builders and carters are in demand to do the work.
