regular meeting of the above lioard was hed on Thursday evening last. Present —Messrs Chas. Bowden, (chairman), A. Wallace, G. White, S. Matthews and A. Hyde. Lots 28, 29 and 30.—The members approved of the chairman's action in communicating with the Crown Lands Office with reference to the granting of the whole of these allotments to Messrs T. and H. Hall. Various street works were authorised to be done. It was decided to have a poundkeeper appointed. The clerk was instructed to call a public meeting on Wednesday, 26th inst., for the purpose of discussing the purchasing of a new cemetery site out of the town boundary. The appointment of a permanent surfaceman was discussed, it was decided to invite applications for the position, the wages to be 7s per day. It was reported tnat a number ot ratepavers intended waiting on the board urging the taking of permanent levels in the township, but as there was no appearance of the deputation the matter was held over. The width of the verandahs to ine new' buildings on the north side of Alexandra street was fixed at 12 feet. VThe treasurer reported —"General account, cr. £230; loan account, cr. zfiol 16s 2d.
The Eltham Borough Council has accented the tender of John Ryan and Son of Manaia, of £3200, for the erec'tion of the Town Hall in wood and iror Sealing accommodation for aUUU Willie provided, with full stage and Vnea-'re accessories. The tender of the Lme firm, of £3OOO, for municipal offices and public buildings m reinforced concrete, were also accepted. Tenders have also been opened for the erection of new buildings for the municipal gasworks.
