Te Kuiti School.
To the Editor. Sir,—With the coming of hot weather the question of school accommodation becomes more and more acute. At present there are about 240 scholars on the roll with an average attendance of 210 and Now when you know that the actual seating accommodation is for 170 you will readily see that the matter is one requiring urgent and drastic attention. The School Committee have made repeatedly application for additions to improvements to the eiiand the fencing of the children's horse paddock, but have been put off with the reply "referred to inspector or architect for report. Now, I think, the time has come when the parents must show their interest in backing up the committee in their endeavours, and let the Education Board see we are going to have our rights and will be satisfied with nothing less. If the average attendance is maintained at over 206 the school is entitled to an assistant master also if there are over 12 children in 'standard VII., Te Kuiti is entitled to be made a High School centre, a fact which should appeal and be of interest to the whole district. Sometime ago the committee, at the request of the headmaster, asked for a probationer to assist Miss Day, which was granted, but it remains at that. Now, considering the overcrowded state of the school, and the insufficiency of the staff, I hops the parents will strengthen the hands of the committee in making very strong representations to the Education Board, by deputation or otherwise. I shall be pleased to arrange for a public meeting to put the matter into definite shape if this meets with the wishes of the parents and householders.—l am, etc., R. MITCHELL, Chairman School Committee.
