VALEDICTORY.

A number of friends of the Rev. G. 11. and Mrs Morse, who are leaving To Kuiti for Christchurch, gathered together in Mr Kind's dining room hot evening for the purpo.se of wishing them good-by. The choir of the Anglican Church presented Mrs Morse with an Irish linen tea cloth. Mrs Stanton, in ;i few words, expressed the regrets of all their members at losing Mrs Morse and spoke of the good work done by her in connection with the choir and the church. Mrs Morse feelingly replied. Mr Blackman, on behalf of other friends, presented Mr Morse with a travailing rug, a Thermos flask, and a case of pipes, and made a short speech regretting his departure. Mr Morse briefly returned thanks, and on behalf of the church welcomed Mr Wayne, the newly-appointed Homo Missionary, to To Kuiti. Mr Wayne thanked those present'for their welcome. Light refreshment t were served during the evening and songs were sung by Mrs Rouse, Miss Ilandysido and Miss King, and Messrs Blackmail, Dranslield and Goldthorpe, thin concluding a very pleasant evening. The Rev. G. IT. Morse has accepted an offer from the Bishop of Ghrislchurch of a benefice in that diocese. Mr Morse had accepted the living of Waiuku, made vacant l>v the appointment of the Rev. J l '. G. R. Harrison as vicar of Waitara, hut Uie Bishop of Auckland has released him from (.he acceptance. Mr Morse leaves for the South at an early dale. No appointment has yet been made for tho Waiuku parish.
