OHURA VALLEY.

The tender committee of the Ohura CouEty Ccuncill have accepted the tenders of T. J. Pendray for work on the Waitewnena road (£148), and P. Don's for work on the Mangakararoad (£92). The promoters of the return social to Mr G. Phillips are busy with their arrangements and are confident of a successful evening. The Auckland truant inspector has taken proceedings against parents who are neglecting to send their children to school, Mr McPhee, of Otangiwai, suffering to the extent of £9 fine and costs for failing to keep his children at school. The new school at Niho Niho is nearly completed and the settlers are putting their spare time in clearing and fencing the play ground.
