The annual meeting of the Niho Niho athletic association was held on the 17th March, at Waipu. Being favoured with a fine day a large gathering assembled and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent witnessing the various events. The following were the results: — Maiden Race.—Pakira 1, W. Ormsby 2. Five starters. Novice Chop.—H. Christensen 1, Ansted 2. Thirteen competitors. 220 Yards Race. —Monk 1, A. O'Brien 2. Eight started. 18-inch Standing Chop.—Herrod 1, Synnott 2, J. Christensen 3. Eleven started. Herrod won by /five seconds. Ladies' Race. —Mrs Outram 1, Mr? Morpeth 2. Six starters. Half mile. - Woods 1, Soffe 2. Seven starters. Jumping Competition (horses). — Ongarue 1. 440 Yards. —Woods 1, A. O'Brien 2. 18-inch Underhand Ciiop.—Synnott 1, Herrod 2. Fourteeen started. This was the most exciting event, Synnott winning by three seconds. One Mile. —J. Christensen 1, S. Dons 2. Ladies' Bracelet. —T. O'Brien 1, Woods 2. Won by three inches. Hop-step-and-jump. Pakira 1, Hill 2. High Jump.—J. Hill 1. A most successful dance was held in the Matiere Haii in the evening. The club has a balance to credit of £lO.
