SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING.
The usual monthly meeting of the Te Kuiti School Committee was held on Monday night last, and in the absence of the Chairman, Mr .1. Ormsby presided.
A considerable amount of correspondence was read from the Education Board with reference to the alterations to the school, the Board stating that the penalty would have to be enforced unless the contract was completed with the utmost speed. A further resolution was passed at the meeting in favour of complaining to the Board as to the delay in completing the contract.' The new outbuildings for the school were not included in the recent contract for alterations, but the Board wrote stating that the matter would be. attended to and the necessary work undertaken.
A letter was rend from the Commissioner oi* Crown Lands, staling that the extra ground applied for by the Committee was already gazetted for school purposes. A circular letter was read from the Aramoho School Committee, advocating the desirability of bavin;', fewer changes in the reading books of the schools ; and that pass examinations should be held annually by the headmasters ; and that any such changes and examinations should take place in the same month of the year by all State Schools in the colony. Rcsojvcdi that the Chairman acknowledge receipt of the letter and that the Committee support the movement. It was resolved to call tenders for cleaning the school for the period ending April 30th, 1907, notice to be given bv advertisement in the KING Country Chronicle. Accounts to the amount of £2 16s were passed for payment.
