KAIKOURA RAILWAYS BEAT CHRISTCHURCH RAILWAYS. Four rinks, representing the Christchurch railways, who travelled an excursion train yesterday, played a match against teams representing the Kaikoura railways on the Kaikoura Club’s green yesterday afternoon. (s) by 19 points to 17 in a semi-final match in the Kaikoura Club’s championship pairs competition played yesterday. The final, which must be played before next Thursday to allow a Kaikoura entry to be made in the Marlborough Centre's champion of champions competition, will be played between McCallum and Stephens and L. KAIKOURA LADIES’ CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES The final of tho Kaikoura Ladies' Club’s championship singles was played on Saturday afternoon between Mrs A. S. Robinson and Mrs W. F. Perrin. The former won by 20 points to 15. This is the sixth time in succession that Mrs Robinsn has won the event. At the conclusion of the qualifying rounds fivb players had each Avon three games. Mrs E. M. Paton drew the bye in the first round round, Mrs Perrin beat Miss E. Hayward, and Mrs Robinson beat Airs D. McCallum. Mrs Perrin beat Mrs Paton in the semi-final, Mrs' Robinson having the bye. In the match between Mrs Robinson and Airs Perrin, 'the former was leading by 20 points to 9 with two ends to go. Airs Perrin scored three on both of the remaining ends to make the final score 20—15. Allison Smith Cup. An alteration has been made at the request of the challengers in the date for the next match for the Allison Smith Cup. This will now be played at Kaikoura on Saturday, February 18, and the challengers are the Marlborough Club. Kaikoura have played five matches for the cup, and have been successful on four occasions. The team to represent Kaikoura on February 18 has been announced by the selector (Airs A. 8. Robinson) as follows: Afesdames D. Sterritt, J. Rimmer, J. D. AVinskill, and AV. F. Perriu (s). Visit to Blenheim. Twenty members of the Kaikoura Ladies’ Club will pay a goodwill visit to the Springlands (Blenheim) Club on Tuesday. The bus will leave the Road Services' garage at 7.30 a.m. Visitors from Christchurch. Only two womlfh bowlers travelled on the excursion train yesterday. Both were from the Sydenham Club, and they joined in matches played on the Kaikoura Club’s green.
