KAIKOURA TEAM BEATEN AT CHRISTCHURCH.

A team from Kaikoura played a match at Stewart’s Gully during the week-end against the Southern Cross team. The Southern Cross team won the match by 294 runs to 147 runs. I). McKay, vho retired after he had made 75, was top-scorer for Southern Cross. Other good scores were made by G. Andeson (49) and C. Ayres (42). A. J. Fitzgerald, who took four wickets for 80 runs, was the most successful bowler for Kaikoura. Nearly half of the Kaikoura total of .147 was made by F. D. Gibson, who scored 67. AV. L. Ferry made 26 and E. 11. Comer 19. Every member of the Southern Cross team had a spell at the bowling crease, and R. Copp, who took one wicket for no run, had the best average.
