A few days ago a Kaikoura farmer was held up by the gentleman of the dairy herd, and had difficulty in seeking safety. E. Lovelock, is not yet a doctor, though he has been described as one throughout the Dominion. He was most emphatic during a short interview when he passed through Christchurch in denying his right to be known as “Dr. Lovelock.’’ This title, he said, had been bestowed upon him entirely in error. Hp' had a Bachelor of Arts degree at Oxford and was studj •ing to be a doctor, but he had yet to pass his final examination before qualifying as a practitioner. “J really ought to be back working for the final examination now,’’ he said; “this wandering through New Zealand is taking up valuable time.’’ Speaking at the dinner tendered the noted New Zealand athlete, Mr .1. E. Lovelock, the Minister of Health (the Hon. P. Fraser) said that an indication already had been given Mr Lovclocik to the -effect that after his period of training in England a place, if he felt so disposed, would not only be found for him, but also advantage would be taken of his experience as an athlete and his knowledge of and ideas on physical education. This statement was made after the Rt. Hon. Sir Michael Myers, Chief Justice, had drawn attention to the small percentage of Now Zealand Rhodes Scholars who returned to the Dominion ami had expressed the hope that Mr Lovelock would not be , lost to this country. RACKING RHEUMATIC PAINS ENDED “I suffered beyond comprehension until R.U.R. completely cured me,’’ writes Mr H. C. Williams, King’s Cross.
