BASKETBALL

KAIKOURA CLUB A pleasant little function took place on Thursday afternoon at the residence of Airs A. B. Clark, when members of the Kaikoura Basketball Club met to bid farewell to the treasurer of the dub, Aliss Al ollie Keehan, who is shortly leaving to take up her residence at Havelock. Airs J. K. Chapman presented Aliss Keehan with a posy of autumn tinted roses and fern and wished her every happiness in her new surroundings. A number of apologies for absence were received. The afternoon passed most pleasantly with social chat, pianoforte items, and a competition was won by Airs Henry Alackle and Aliss A. Keenan. During the afternoon Airs A. B. Clark referred to the excellent services rendered to the club by Aliss Keehan, both on the playing field and thy social side of the club and said all very much regretted losing such a valuable and energetic member. On behalf of those present Airs Clark asked ATisss Keehan to accept a box of table linen and towels and wished her long life and happiness in her new sphere of action. “For She’s a Jolly Good Follow” was sung. Aliss Keehan briefly responded and thanked all for their gift and -for the many nice things said about her. AVhat she had done for the club had been a. pleasure and she wished the club every success in the future. The resignation of Aliss A. Firkin as secretary of the club was received and Aliss Al. AA’ells was elected to fill the position and Aliss Sina Smith appointed treasurer. A hearty welcome was extended to the new officers. Afternoon tea was served by those present. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Airs Clank for her hospitality and a. pleasant afternoon terminated.
