His many friends will wish ’him a speedy restoration to normal health. A contract has been let by Mr P. Cannon for a new building at West Fnd to replace the dwelling, office, and motor garage used by Messrs Newman Bros. The old structure! will be •- de w molished. Mr C. W. Reeves, who occupied one of the shops at the old garage, has now removed to Mr Richardson’s shop, near the Lyell Creek bridge. A very pleasant -'vening was su»mt at the residence of Mr and Mrs (£. Hamilton, Hapuku, on Mondry last, when a number of friends assembled on the occasion of the 2.lst birthday anniversary of Mis Hamilton’s nephew, Mi* Allan Simpson. The evening passed pleasantly with games, cards, competitions, and musical items. Much amusement was caused in the opening of the various gifts and in a few well-chosen words Mr Simpson thanked all present for the enjoyable evening given in his honour and for the many gifts presented to him. A gaily decorated cake was cut and distributed, and all joined in singing “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” The evening came to a close with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. Among those present were Mr and Mrs G. Hamilton, Mr and Mrs E. Scott, Mr and Mrs R. Smart, Mr and Mrs A. Morton. Mr and Airs W. Milligan, Mesdames E. Carson and F. Emms, Misses 1. Gibson I. Scott, M.
