KAIKOURA TROTTING CLUB
ADJOURNED ANNUAL MEETING THURSDAY NIGHT When the annual meeting of members of the Kaikoura Trotting Club was called last month the attendance did not warrant the committee holding the meeting and it was adjourned to allow the committee to make a canvass of the district to see if sufficient support was forthcoming- to continue with the club. The President (Mr W. S. Bennett) said he did not want to take the responsibility of disbanding the club, because he realised that the totalisator trotting permit was an asset to the district and once lost would never be regained, hence an enthusiastic band of supporters got busy and as a result of ihcir efforts and the encouragement given, the prospects are that the popular annual race meeting will be held in February next. However, bricks cannot bo made without straw, and if members and intending members do not turn un in sufficiently large numbers to select un enthusiastic committee then there will be nobody to carry on the good work. The committee has done its duty, a good membership has been enrolled and now all that is required is a well-at-tended meeting to elect officers and the committee. The adjourned meeting will be held' in the Band Room on Thursday night. Hold fast to what you possess, attend the adjourned 'meeting, and make a success of the annual trotting meeting.
