Several other members spoke on various subjects, and it was emphasised that the branch executive was prepared to debate the question of guaranteed prices with any farmer or body in the district. A member enquired regarding the position of farm workers and whether they were compelled to join a union.— He was advised that it was compulsory by law. It was decided to organise a suitable function as a reception to the Hon. R. Semple on the occasion of his visit to Kaikoura. Four new members were elected. Supper was handed round by the ladies and the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
