ODDFELLOWSHIP

LOYAL HEART OF OAK LODGE The fortnightly meeting of the Lo. Mal Heart of Oak Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., was held on Saturday night, the N.G., Bro. M. Perrin, presiding over a large attendance of members and The District Officers paid their annual visit to the Lodge and the Efficiency Competition judges were also in attendiance, the N.G. welcoming the visitors to the Lodge. Sick pay amounting to £5 10/- and a maternity bonus of £6 were passed for payment. Two candidates were initiated into the order, P.G. Bro. P. Al. Kerr being L.M., and P.G. Bro. H. Austin and P.G. J. Peoples acting as conductors. An address on the aims and objects of the order were given by the L.M. The D.G.Af., Bro. F. G. Barnes, gave a very instructive address, as did the D. Bro. W. J. Teale. The following visitors were in atendance:—Bros. O. J. Holmes and F. A. Iggo, of the District Management Committee; Sis. H. Taylor and Bro. H. W. E. Parsons, with Bro. Iggo, competition judges; Bro. S. J. Geary, P.D.G.M., representing the Ritual Committee; Sis. Iggo (Sister Pearce); Sis. I. Trustaun, I. Adams, V. Huston and J. Huston (Loyal Kaiapoi); Bro. F. Andrews (City of Christchurch), Bro. G. Lightfoot (Loyal Philipstown), Bros. K. Ridden, R. Newton, and F. Gilbert (Loyal Leeston), Bro. T. Tizzard (Loyal Coleridge), ami Sis. Payne (Loyal Afalvern). Bro. L. Cecil, of the Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge, was also present for the meeting. On Sunday evening a Past Grands’ Lodge was held to confer the purple degree, which was given by the D.G.M., Bro. Barnes. Bros. Iggo and Holmes acted as conductors. The minor officers’ degrees were also delivered as follows: —-Past E.S., Sis. Taylor (degree master). Bros. Iggo and Parsons (conductors); Past V.G., Bro. Iggo (degree master), Bros. E. O. Smith and Jas. Peoples (conductors); Past N.G., Bro. Parsons (degree master), Bros. Smith and Peoples (conductors). On Sunday afternoon the visitors, accompanied by local members, enjoyed a walk round the reef and afternoon tea was partaken of on their arrival at South Bay.
