LEG THEORY ARGUMENT
LONDON, July 8. Cecil Parkin, writing in the Empire News says: “There need be no mystery regarding refusal to meet Notts in 1935. The truth is that when the Lancastrians retired from their last match against Notts, in which they faced leg-theory bowling, they r belled. “Lancashire was practically forced to do as it did. Duckworth was so badly' bruised that he had his ’ injuries photographed. “Even great batsmen arc helpless against fast leg-theory. Bodylinc bowling, if adopted, would kill the game.” L. N, Constantine, the former West Indies cricketer, writing in Reynolds’s Illustrated News, says: If Larwood joins the Lancashire League he will not be allowed to bowl bodylinc. The public will not stand it from him or anyone else. “Even short bumpers are unpopular with Lancashire crowds, as I know’ from experience.”
