Miles, J Rainey, E. Eaton, A. Smith and W. Mclnnes. The cars will leave from ‘he West End at 10.30 a.m. The committee will meet to-night at 7 o 'clock. CHEVIOT V. KAIKOURA Cheviot kicked off and H. McKenzie fielded, but was caught in possession and play was centred in Kaikoura territory. Following two scrums, from which neither side gained advantage, I play was of a scrambling nature. From a scrum in mid-field the Kaikoura backs handled well and took play into Cheviot's 25. Cheviot were awarded a penalty, the ball going out at half way. Play swung to the other wing, Wakelin received and gaineed 50 yards with a good line kick. Kaikoura were penalised. for lifting in the scrum and flKmes had a shot but Kaikoura forced, was taken to half-way and from ‘Sacrum Robertson secured and passed on to McKenzie who gained good ground before passing out to Gibson and on to Wakelin, who dashed over unopposed, fininshing off a good movement. Play in midfield and from a scrum the Kaikoura backs handled well, Olliver being unlucky in being smothered 10yds from the line. From a line out all Kaikoura backs handled and Wakelin, brushing off four men ground cd under the posts. The half time score was Kaikoura 6, Cheviot 0. Shortly after resuming Roberts mis-kicked into the Cheviot backs who made full use of the advantage and scored web out From the kick-off the Kaikcura forwards dribbled well and from a loose ruck in Cheviot 25, Mackie secured and went over for the third t*y for Kaikoura .Play was taken to Cheviot 25, and following a line-out C. Stack secured and crossed the line wide out. Kaikoura pressed again but Barnes cleared well. Here the Cheviot wing secured, centreing over the heads of the Kaikoura backs who were playing close up, and J. Crossen. securing, outstripped Gibson to secure a good trv. In the concluding stages of the game both sets of forwards were battling hard and Cheviot were pressing but the Kaikoura defence held, and time was called with the score Kaikoura 12, Cheviot ff. Mr J. J. Mackie was refeiee. The juniors were defeated by Cheviot at Cheviot on Saturday, by 11 to At the committee meeting on Monday night a vote of sympathy was passwith Mr F. H. Flower in his illness and the hope expressed that he would make a speedy and complete recovery.
