KAIKOURA TENNIS CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Kaikoura Tennis Club took place on Friday night at Mr R. Gibson’s office, Mr Gibson presiding over an attendance of about 20 members. Apologies were received for the absence of Messrs E. Warner, A. W. Crichton and E. A. W. Smith. The balance-sheet, which showed the Club to be in a healthy financial position, was read and adopted. The following new members were elected:—Mcsdames J. G. Dunn, R. Clark, E. W. Harris, F. H. Flower, Misses D. Gibson, M. Wareham, J. Wareham, Messrs J. G. Dunn, K. Evans, J. Robinson, J. Peoples, J. Hewson, Roy Clark, E. W. Harris, R. Clarke, and W. Hughes. Miss Holmes wrote tendering her re signatioii, which was accepted with regret. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr G. W. Forbes ,M.P.; President, Mr A. 8. Robinson; Vice-Presidents, Messrs A. Howard, R. E. Foster, B. C. Smith, and E. A. W. Smith; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr

F. J. Rydings; General Committee. Mesdames E. Warner, L. Barry, R. Foster, A. S. Robinson, Messrs S. Jackson. G. Spencer, and J. G. Dunn; Handicap Committee, Mrs E. Warner, Messrs A. S. Robinson, R. Gibson; Ground Committee, Messrs J. Adair, B. C. Smith, A. S. Robinson, and R. Gibson; Club Captain, Mr R. Gibson; Vice-Captain, Mr Wallace. Subscriptions for the year wore fixed as follows:—Ladies £l. if paid before December 31 15/; gentlemen, £2, if paid by 31st December £1 10/. The Hapuku Ladies’ Hockey Club wrote thanking the Club for supplying the afternoon tea during the recent visit of the Waiau ladies. It was decided to write to the Matron of the Kaikoura Hospital, offering the Hospital staff free use of the courts for the season. As the Xmas stall held last year was a financial success, it was decided to hold another this-year on the same lines. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the business.
