AN OPEN VERDICT

DEATH OF MBS BEATTIE (Per United Press Iw) i GISBORNE, Last Night. An open verdict was returned by Mr -G. Harper, S.M., today at the adjourned inquest concerning the death of Mrs Elizabeth Beattie, known as Mrs Burns, who was found dead on July Bth. An adjournment had been granted to obtain a further report of the Government analyst. Detective McLeod stated he made Inquiries Into the circumstances of the death and made a search of the hoove and surroundings for poison. He had taken possession of medicine bottles and pills which were subsequently sent to the Dominion analyst from whom a negative report was received. Inquiries from friends and neighbours confirmed the evidence, that deceased and her daughter and Borns got on well together and that she at no time gave Indications of suicidal
