' The widely heralded fight ended suddenly, when von Porat reaching for t.hc elusive Britisher’s body, lauded a low * blow. Jack Dempsey, who was refereeing the fight for charity, was uncertain for a few moments and urged Bco»tt to go on, but he slowly sank to the canvas, clutching his middle and grimacing. It was apparent that he was in pain. Dempsey lifted Scott like a baby, but the Britisher refused to continue. Me grovelled and wept os he was led to stool.
