GENERAL SITUATION. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The anti-cyclone has intensified slightly and its centre is now passing the northern extremity of the Dominion. A series of depressions of the westerly type extends from the Great Australian Bight across the Tasman sea. FORECAST. Winds: Moderate to strong southwest to westerly, gradually veering to northerly and freshening. Seas (SJZ.. waters): Generally smooth to moderate, but rising later south of Cape Egmont. Tasman sea: Increasing northerly winds with moderate but rising seas in the eastern Tasman sea. Weather mainly fair at first, but increasing cloud and haze conditions, becoming unsettled soon with rain in the western districts from Taranaki southwards and in Otago and Southland; generally unsettled weather probable within forty-eight hours; warm temperatures.
