Timber Commission.

Pes Press Association, I Auckland, May 12. At the Timber Commission Mr] H. F. Kavanagh, timber expert, sa>d the bush, especially kauri, was getting very remote. There was not much chance of kauri' falling in price. He expected to see it up to L2 per 100 feet. At the present rate of consumption he estimated the supplies of kauri would be exhausted in from 6 to 7 years, and other timbers on the present output would be exhausted in 22 years. No time should be lost in afforestation. He did not favour the imposing of a duty on Oregon pine, believing we should importwhat timber was required.
