In the evening, there was a" social at which he was presented with a silver salver as a mark of the appreciation of his services to t'.e country and especially, in regard to his action over, the Dreadnought gift, Sir Joseph Ward replying said the sentiments he had just heard would make public opinion still stronger in showing the readiness in the Dominion to help tHe Motherland and maintain the: position of supremacy on which Kew Zealand depended on for security.
