CRICKET NOTES.

BY TWNDLER. The result of the Globe-Crushing-ton match leaves the former, the winner of thi Stallard Cup for the season 1908-09. In congratulating them upon their achievment, I attribute their success mostly to the —Firth consistent batting: Williams, and Fern batting and bowling; also Thompson loi the wjy he captained the team, and last but not least, Mr E. Castle, (secretary and manager) for the way he got his team to travel. The match Capleston v. Blackwater tesulted in a win for the former by 6 wickets in a two innings game. I have to . congratulate Capleston, on what is (really speaking) their maiden win, as the only wins they got were by default. The next matches set down for playing are Blackwater v Stars, at Reefton, Globe v Capleston, at Crushington. Crushington win by default from Ikamatua. I understand the first match has been postponed. Globe should score an easy win over Capleston. I am pleased to see that Stars have arranged a match with a Westport team.

The fielding of the Crushington team in the match with Globe was very poor indeed, catch alter catch beim* missed. In fact the only two that could field a ball were Sullivan and Giey.
