[The Editor Inangahua Times.] Sib, — Allow me space to contradict an assertion continued in a letter which appeared in your open column last night over the signature of " A SixlyFiver," with reference to my remarks anent the increase of- the honorarium. The writer of the letter states that I am in favor of the honorarium be'ng increased to £300. lam in favor of no such a thing. I have never, publicly or privately, stated such an ex« pression. If it has been publicly stated, then I have been mis reported. What I have said everywhere — for I don't go down one guly with one tale and up another with a different one upon the same topic— is that Inm in favor of the honorarium being increased to £200, principally for the reason that it gives the working cTaßses — who have no money to throw away upon extraneous <jbjects--*ai)f»i.opporfcuuity of being represented by one of their own number. I don't intend traversing the other statements in the letter of "A Sixty fiver" for this reason, that the people to whom he endeavours to direct his tutelage are quite capable of forming thr.ir own opinions upon the matter. The fact h the w liter is a biassed supporter oi tlie capitalist ring who are ruining the country, to check whom strong men are needed in the House of Represi utatmis, oue of whom I am.
