♦ — (from our own correspondent. ) Wellington, 12 • Parliament wi'l be called together for the dispatch of business in the last week of April. The Redistribution of Seats Bill will be brought down on the first day of the pension, and the present intention of the Government is that no other impertant business will be taken nntil this bill is put through all its stages. The Financial Statement will be ready very early in the session. Nelson, 11 The annnal meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was held to-day. Mr C. Y. Fell was in the chair. The Chairman referred to tlw prospects of Nelson as hnprfnl. He allnded to the Midland Railway, the development of the Collingwood coal, and the very hopeful prospfcts of Mie Owen proldfields. As to the. crops, he understood that the grain wrs up to the average, but with regard to hops, that though the yi«ld would b« much less, the
prices would be higher. Mr Henry Cock was elected Chairman for the ensuing year, and Mr Jno. Sharp, vice Chairman. Wanganui 11. Advantage has been taken of section 47 of the Defence Act, 1876, by Capt. Jones of the Wtxnganni rifles to fine a private l/» for absenting himself from two consecutive parades, and the fine has been entered in the R.M. Court record book, and made recoverable within a week.
