INANGAHUA COUNTS" COUNCIL.
Tho ordinary meeting of the Council was held afc the office, Broadway, Eeefton, on Thursday last. .Present : Messrs. Brennan (chairman) Dick, Byrne, Kelly, Copies, and Bayfeild. The minutes of tho last moeting were read and confirmed. The Clerk read copies of all correspond dence forwarded since tho meeting of the Council. CORRESPONDENCE. Letter from Mr" O'Eeefo requesting a sum of £5 for repairs to Antonio road Clerk directed to communicate with Mr llois, Antonio's, with reference to the matter. Ito Eoss and Sunderland's application for protection for a road up Lankey's Creek. Warden's recommendation for five years protection with tolls, &c, was agreed to, Ke Gardiner's application for compensation for damage done to south crate of .suspension bridge. Tho Clerk was instructed lo inform Mr Gardiner that the request cannot be granted. lie Gillespie's application for permission to close portions of rigbt-.of-w.-y pending completion of his contract. Permission granted. Ko right-of-way, and report of Mr Butler stating (hat a number of fences and
certain buildings were on the lino o i right-of-way. After discussion Mr Bay* feild proposed, and Mr Byrno seconded, "That notioe be given to all property holders so enoroaching, that they must move all obstructions immediately. Tbe Seoretary was directed to request Mr Woolley to furnish permanent lines. From Dash and Co., protective works contractors asking a further advance of £200. The Clerk was instructed to iv* form applicants that the request would not be complied with, and further that the ponalty for non-completion of contract at tbo stipulated date will be inforced. Re the completion of the unformed portion of the Grey-Reeftou road, so.eral telegrams sent and received were road and also the reply of the Miuisjter of Publio Works stating that the oontract could uot , now bo let until tho Estimates were passed.
