The Coronet, from Tahite, brings a valuable cargo of cotton, lime-juice, and oopra. Captain Ross reports the iron ship Ada Aredala, which left Ardrossan with coals for San Francisco, oa June 15, 1876, was abandoned in flames, the crew suffering great hardships {Jpr,26 days. The ship was towed into Pasteti harbour, Tahite, on June 20, of this year. She is still burning after eight months tossing about, during which time she had drifted 600 miles; She was picked up ciose to land by the French frigate, the Seignby. Dunedin, September 15. A serious affray occurred at Sparrow and Co's Foundry, whereby a boy named Valentine Moreton, aged fifteen, was severely wounded. He was engaged heating rivets, when one ot his mutes, Stewart Newton, aged thirteen, interfered and was told to mind his own business. A quarrel arose, in whicb, Newton was

thrown on his back, and he got up and went away, and returned in three or four minutes afterwards saying to Morefcon, " I will make you pay for the way you threw me a little while ago.""" v He'\tb.eh x picked up a piece of iron and was about to throw it at Moroton, when the latter rushed upon him and knocked the iron out of his band; they had another struggle, in which, Newton commenced savagely using his pocket knife, with which he stabbed Moreton in two places on tbe left leg and left side. The knife was taken from Newton, and Moreton removed to the hospital. Pr Tiqua expressed his belief that tho cut on Moretons side was of a very serious character, the knife having entered the body two inches in an upward direction between two of his ribs. Newton was apprehended on war/ant.
