THE HOSPITAL ELECTION.

The polling' for the return of twelve members to constitute the Hospital Com"* mittee for the ensuing year took place on Saturday last. Polling places had been fixed for Reelton, flapieston, and Black's Point, and it will be seen that the extended facility for voting has been very largely made use of by subscribers. Hitherto but one polling place has been appointed, the election of the Committee being thereby thrown almost entirely into the hands of the residents of Reefton. But on Saturday last, every facility being offered to miners and other country residents to exercise the privilege of votiug, the result is a very much larger number of votes were recorded than on previous ( occasions. The step was a very wise one, for no doubt many subscriptions were paid in order to qualify the donors to vote. The polling at Eeefton commenced at 9 a.m.. and continued until 6 o'clock in the evening, the ballot being presided over by Messrs Delaney and Gillespie, as Returning Officers. The polling at Capleston was superintended By Messrs Caples and King, and at Black's Point by Mr Craig. A gsod deal of interest was manifested in the proceedings, and it is satisfactory to learn that on the whole a considerable amount was received in qualification money. The following is the result of the polling at the three places :—
