OUR MINES.
MUKRAY OIIEEK. [FROM OUB MINING BEPOBTEB.] KEEP-IT-DARK. Wednesday, February 13, 1877. Since my last report upon this mine the body of stone recently driven on bas somewhat; diminished in thickness, but the formation of the walls is of the same solidity, and the face and roof of the drive indicates every liklihood of a strong reef ahead. In previous reports it has been mentioned that the body of stone more recently driven on was running at right angles from the big lode, and was. therefore, believed to be a spur, or offshoot, of stone from the main body. The hands have now opened out on the opposite side of the main tunnel, where there is another large face of stone exposed, being tbe continuation of tbe same line of reef which was first intersected. Tbe extent of driving done up to the present time shows tbe existence altogether of a reef varying from ten to five feet thick, and about 120 feet in length. The new face opened this week also shows the existence of a goodly quantity of stone, but as the bands had only just opened out, a better opportunity will be afforded of reporting upon it next week. The rise is being pushed forward with good speed, still carrying a good lode. The general report at the machine-house as to tbe yield of the present crushing is an estimate of 12dwts per ton.
