MR BARRETT RE-ELECTED'

ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual Statutory meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council was held on December 13 last when Mr T. A. Barrett was re-elected chairman of the council, ' Mr A. F. Thorp received nomination but declined to accept nomination for the position. Cr A. F. Thorp was elected deputy? chairman. ■Chairman’s AiHowance With reference to the. allowance to > the chairman it was moved that the allowance* be £lso' but the chairman stated that he would not accept the amount and a subsequent motion that the allowance be fixed at £llO was carried. Mr ~-Barrett thanked members for the confidence they had indibated in him by his reappointment to the position of Mr Thorp also expressed l his appreciation of being elected' deputy-chair-man. 1

At the conclusion of the meeting Mip Barrett extended to the council’s inside and outside staff his and councillors thanks for the manner in which which they had carried out their duties during the past year. He wished them all the compliments of the season.

Mr A. A. Jenkinson, county clerk, and Mr L. E. Shaw, county engineer, suitably replied.
