VERY DRY YEAR
RAINFALL 32.84 INCHES FIGURES FOR OCTOBER Over some 13 rainy days a total rainfall of 3.98 inches was recorded for the month of October in Paeroa. The month with regard to rainfall was an average month of October for the average over 37 years for October is 4.2 inches of rain. The year to the end of October must be one of the driest years on record for the total rainfall from January 1, 1350 to October 31, 1950, was only 32.84 inches as against an average of 43.91 inches for the same period over 37 years. The heaviest fall of rain was on October 16 when .32 inches were registered. The highest temperature recorded during the month under review was 75.5 degrees on October 21, a day when there was bright sunshine and scattered clouds. The lowest temperture during the month was* 33 degrees registered on October IT, October 13 and October 14. The highest 'barometer reading was 30.23 inches on October 11 and the lowest reading was 23.45 inches recorded on October 30.
