TH ANKS EXPRESSED THAMES TROTTING CLUB “At the recent annual meeting of the Thames Trotting /Club on the motion of the president, .Mr R. J. Rolfe, the thanks of the committee and members of the club were tendered to Messrs Pezairo Brothers, McKendrick Brothers, Mr R. Lewis of Auckland, Mr E. J. McLoughlin and Miss Violet Twohill, of the Brian Boru hotel, Thames, for the donation of trophies during the year,” writes an Auckland correspondent to the Gazette. “The president stated that the club was also under a debt of gratitude to Mr and Mrs Bruce Elliot, the owners of Single Direct, and Mr Noel Simpson, the owner of Sprayman, for . agreeing to a racing exhibition by • those two class trotters at the jubilee meeting. That had been appreciated by the large crowd present. The committee was very appreciative of the assistance given not only during the present year but at all times by the Auckland Trotting Club, the progressive policy of which had done much to assist trotting. “Regret at the passing of respected, members was expressed. Those members were Messrs Garrett, S. G. Hole and J. Mearns. The last named had been prominent as an owner and a very keen patron of the club. He had died whilst on a trip to Scotland. The sympathy of members was extended to relatives of the deceased gentlemen,” concludes the Auckland report.
