SOUTH ISLANDER IN JUMPING

liArest in the Waikato metropolitan show to be held at Hamilton on Thursday, Friday and -Saturday, October 26, 27 and 28, is now particularly keen and the event promises to be another' outstanding one in the historyof the association. Record entries have been received and the public are assured of an excellent programme for all days. -

Of particular interest to sheep bree’ders will be the excellent competition in the new breeds of Suffolk, Dorset Horn and Cheviot sheep, whilst the beef and dairy cattle sections are stronger than ever. The massed grand parade on Friday and Saturday will •be. another milestone for quality and quantity and with the stock offering should be worthy of the leading stock show in the Dominion.

Of particular interest to sportsmen will be the clash of the great champion jumper l from Dunedin “Viking” with the provinces best in the north. The southerner is fresh from success in the Australasian champion jump, and his .performance will be followed with interest.

On Friday the Prime Minister will open the show and this will be followed by a mass release of pigeons, the grand parade and an actual display of aerial topdressing. ‘ ■On Saturday (main people’s day) a record crowd is expected to witness Dominion champion jump, the second grand parade and display of aerial topdressing and a feature event in the jigger chop. This chop is a big feature in Australian carnivals and will be a class at the Waikato show for the first time. There are classes for chopping and sawing, kennel club dogs, poultry and sheep shearing competitions. Side shows galore and the very latest display of modern machinery.
