WAITAKARURU CLUB

The annual meeting of the Waitakaruru Cricket Club was held in the hall there being a very pleasing attendance of supporters. Mr H. T. ‘ P. Evans, president, took the chair. The financial statement was passed as satisfactory. 'The election of officers resulted:—Patron, Mr N. Hedges; president, Mr»H. T. P. Evans; secretary, Mr C. W. Bemey; delegates to the Hauraki Plains Cricket Association, Messrs A! Wilson, B. O’Neil and C. W. Berney. > A discussion took place on the respective merits of one or two-day matches and it was unanimously decided that the delegates should vote in favour of two-day matches. MATCH AT riOPAI KOPUARAHI AND UNITED DRAW A. Vince was very aggressive, hitting twb sixes, a four and four twos for kopuarahi in the Hauraki Plains Cricket Association’s competition match with United last Saturday. The match was played at Hopai and ended in a draw. Although Kopuarahi knocked up a total of 175 they were unable to dismiss United in the time left before stumps were drawn. D. Wallis bowled well for United putting down bumpers which were difficult to play on the concrete wicket. It was the stubborn batting of Wallis that saved the day for United. R.
