POWER SUPPLY

COROMANDEL AREA

INCLUSION OF COUNTY DISCUSSION BY COUNCIL The matter of the inclusion of Coromandel county in the Thames Valley Electric-Power (Board’s district was a subject of further discussion at the July meeting of the Coromandel (County Council.

A letter from the Coromandel Chamber of Commerce enclosing a copy of its letter sent to the Thames Valley Electric-Power Board relative to the county’s admission into the power board’s area, and asking the council to support its action was read to the meeting.

•After discussion it was resolved that the power board be approached to see if the £250 of £275 was the cost of the detailed survey or just the cost of supplying the information requited by the general manager of the State Hydro Department and further, to advise the board that the councillors are willing to undertake such survey provided that the board 'guaranteed the county’s inclusion into the power board area.

It was emphasised that.reticulation of power was not asked for at the present time. All that was required was inclusion into the power board area so that relief could be obtained by way of subsidy from the 'Rural Reticulation Council. *
