PROBLEM OF WATER SUPPLY
Providing water for the Coromandel (school swimming baths is evidently a problem and at the July meeting of the Coromandel County Council a tetter was read from the school committee asking if the council was prepared to make 9000 galtens of water per week available for the school swimming baths. The chairman, ‘Mr E. Deeble, said that the water be required at a time When water might be scarce, and the matter should be gone into very thoroughly before granting the request. (Councillors were generally of the opinion that every effort (should be made ito encourage the provision of swimming baths for the children, but the matter should he gone into first. One councillor suggested a pump to drew the water from Carrolle’s creek as an , alternative - , should the water supply be short as it usually was in. the summer.
The matter was left in the hands of the committee to draw up a report for next meeting.
