BARRY CUP COMPETITION PAEROA DEFEATS TE AROHA Playing good football and handling the greasy ball well, Paeroa primary school senior Rugby representatives defeated Te Aroha (challengers) by 17 points to three thus retaining the Barry Cup. Paeroa’s five tries all came from back movements, the winger Kahn, scoring three and the centre, I. Wilkinson, two. Morris Mead, who played an outstanding game at half, converted one try.
Very few faults could be found with the Paeroa team on the day’s play, the backing up being good. Mandeno scored an unconverted try for Te Aroha after a good run when he caught the local boys out of position.
JUNIOR MATCH
TE AROHA 6, PAEROA 3
On the Paeroa domain on Wednesday last the Te Aroha primary school’s junior representative team defeated Paeroa primary school’s junior representative team by six points to three. By good footwork from a scrum on the line Snell dribbled over to score for Te Aroha. Smart following up enabled Kiely of Te Aroha to score, making the score six to nil. In the second half there was a great forward struggle and just on the call of time Tomlinson scored a good try for Paeroa. The final score was Te Aroha 6, Paeroa 3.
