MARRIED IN WAERENGA

A pretty wedding took place on June 3 at Waerenga memorial church, the Rev. W. D. Whelan officiating, when Eileen Minnie, second daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Harris of Maramarua, was married to Richard Lawrence, fifth son of Mr and Mrs F. Chambers of Waerenga.

Entering the church on her father’s arm, the bride looked very charming in a cream embossed Ottoman satin gown, the full skirt falling to a train from a long slim-fitting bodice, with sweetheart neckline and the back fully buttoned in self material to a pointed yoke. A coronet of orange blossom held the embroidered tulle veil in place and a sheaf of arum lilies completed the handsome ensemble.

In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Lois Carter, Mrs W. Irvine (matron of honour) and Lynette Chambers (flower girl). All were attired in delphinium blue with short tulle veils held in place by coronets of matching flowers. Swiss needlerun lace jackets, with front gathering and pleated net niching at neck, were worn over net skirts and pretty bouquets of pink painted bracken, carnations and iris tingitana were carried. Attending the groom as best man was Mr E. Chambers and Mr D. Barwick of Waerenga was groomsman.

.Following the ceremohy a reception was held in the Te Kauwhata Memorial Hall, the guests 'being received by Mrs W. Harris, whose saxe blue frock was topped by a grey coat with matching hat, black accessories and shoulder spray of clove pink carnations. Assisting were Mrs F. Chambers in a royal blue frock worn under a musquash coat with black accessories and red poinsettia shoulder spray and Mrs C. Towers, mushroom shaded frock, tan coat, matching accessories and shoulder spray of stocks and daphne. The. bride travelled in a soft blue silk frock with hat to match, a pastel coat and black accessories.
