MR W. E. HALE, C.B.E.

WORK FOR DAIRY INDUSTRY

Among the recipients of honours graciously conferred by His Majesty The King on the occasion of the celebration of His Majesty’s birthday according to the announcement made by the Governor-General Sir Bernard 'Freyberg, V.C., is Mr William Edward Hale of Maramarua, upon whom has been conferred the title of C.B.E. (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire). Mr Hale was educated at the Thames primary school and later took up farming at Matatoki where he lived for many years. When the Kopuarahi block was later opened up Mr Hale purchased an area there and developed it to a high standard of production. At one time member of the Hauraki Plains County Council and the Thames Hospital Board, Mr Hale became a director of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy ’ Company Ltd.,

as representative of the Hauraki Plains district, and was later appointed by that company as its representative upon the New Zealand Dairy Board of which he then became chairman. Mr Hale is also chairman of directors of the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Company Ltd. He n'ow resides at Maramarua.
