COMING OF AGE
CRAY TOWNSHEND HONOURED
HAPPY PARTY AT AWAITI Mr apd Mrs C. E. J. Townshend entertained at their home “Bellwin” to celebrate the coming-of-age of their elder son, Gray. A birthday tea was served at 7 o’clock in pleasant surroundings decorated with streamers, balloons and greenery. After the loyal toast Mr W. J. Noble proposed the toast to Gray and said he had seen him grow to manhood. The candles were then lighted and extinguished and the customary key handed round. Gray replied thanking all for their presence and the beautiful gifts he received and said how pleased he was to 'have his cousins from Invercargill at his party.
•Mr G. E. Sarjant proposed the toast of the Townshend family in his happy manner, Mr Townshend replying. All present enjoyed a pleasant evening in games, community singing and competitions.
