STOPBANK WORK

PROTECTION ON PIAKO ADVICE TO DRAINAGE BOARD Arrangements have been made to terminate the stopbank work on the lower Piako river at the point where the existing stopbank materially improves about 40 chains upstream from the end of the previous work done, before November. This information was received in a letter from Mr A. 0. Barrowclough, drainage engineer, Land Drainage branch, Works Department, Kerepehi, to the February meeting of the Hauraki Drainage Board. “I have requested your board to pay into the Public Account one quarter of the estimated cost of this further work, in addition to the arrangement already made for payments of work done before November,” the letter continued.

“The estimated cost is £360, of which the board’s share is £9O. The unexpended balance will be returned at the completion of the work.” The letter was received.
