INTEREST TAKEN

AERIAL TOPDRESSING PLANE WORKING AT KOMATA Farmers and motorists passing by showed considerable interest in the aerial topdressing operations being carried out on Friday last on the property of Mr. L. J. Shaw at Komata. The operations were being carried out by Mr. R. I. Graham of Mount Maunganui, Tauranga, who trades under the name of Airspeed. The land being topdressed was on the top of the watershed some 1,100 feet above sea level and the .plane was landing and taking off from Mr. G. Buchanan’s property at Komata.

Loads of 5401 b. of fertiliser were being taken each trip which took approximately six to eight minutes, the time being rather longer than usual as the plane had to ascend to approximately 2,000 feet in order to deliver each load.
