KARANGAHAKE-PAEROA BUSES INCONVENIENT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Representations to the New Zealand Railways Road Services, Paeroa, for a a improved bus service between Karangahake and Paeroa were recently made by the Paeroa Chamber of Commerce. In presenting the case for 46 residents of Karangahake, the secretary of the chamber, jir J. H. Bartlett, stated.
“The present workers’ bus reaching Paeroa at 8.20 a.m., is so overcrowded that a number of passengers are frequently compelled to wait for the service car which follows shortly after.
“For housewives and other shoppers it is a mad rush to get husbands to work, children to school and then wfclk to the nearest bus stop at the latest, 8.5 a.m. “There is a bus service, Paeroa to Waihi, at 10.30 a.m. (10.40 a.m., Karangahake)), by which shoppers can travel at a convenient time, do their shopping and return at 12.45 pan. “li fairness it must be said that a service car passes through hake to Paeroa at about 10.15 mu., but will only pick up pasaehgere (other than prior bookings for Auckland), at the driver’s discretion.”
The improvement sought, stated Mr Bartlett, was a bus passing through Karangahake 4o Paeroa at about •JO a.m., which would reduce to eoageation on to workers’ bus and provide a more convenient timetable for shoppers.
Vhe secretary reported that no reply had been received from to manager of the New Zealand Railways Road Services at Paeroa.
The meeting decided to delay discussion until a reply was received to its representations.
