MORE GRASS FIRES

THREE AT SAME TIME

PAEROA BRIGADE KEPT BUSY

Whilst the Paeroa Volunteer Fire Brigade was busy putting out two fires along the side of the railway line adjoining the railway reserve opposite the' Paeroa hotel, yesterday afternoon, a second alarm was sounded and a hurried shift of operations was made to the rear premises of Lemanquais, Lamb and Co’s, joinery factory close to the railway bridge across the Ohinemuri river.

By the time the brigade reassembled its equipment and reached the third fire it had secured a good hold but fortunately the grass at the rear of the joinery timber stacks had been ,cut some time ago and the fresh green grass acted as a brake on the fire which otherwise could have spread to the nearby stacks of timber and factory.
