TOO MANY CRIMES

. OPINION OF FARMERS CAPITAL PUNISHMENT COLVILLE REMIT APPROVED “ In view of the increased numbers of murders and crimes against women we request the re-introduction of capital punishment as well as the internment of the criminal for the term of his natural life. This is especially necessary for scattered disdricts where police stations are far between,” stated a remit from the Colville branch discussed at the quarterly conference of the Northern Thames sub-provincial executive of Federated Farmers held in Thames recently. The secretary, Mr G. M. Rodgers, said that,.the Auckland executive had already taken up the question. Mr W. C._ Goudie (Colville) said all .thought that capital punishment should be brought in again in an attempt to reduce the amount of crime. At present the punishment was not sufficient to prevent crime. Tlfe remit was carried.
