SCOUT HUT
NEEDED IN COROMANDEL DECISION OF COMMITTEE NECESSITY OF FUNDS A meeting of the management Committee of the Coromandel Boy Scouts was held recently. After the routine business had been dealt with the discussion centred round a proposal to build a hut for the exclusive use of the Scouts. It was stressed by the scoutmaster, that this was necessary in the interests of the scouting in Coromandel. Up to the present the troop had shared a hall with other organisations where space was limited and there was no room for the storing of equipment, etc.
The committee decided to make a Scout hut their objective for this year. Suggestions were put forward as to ways of raising money for this object and as a result various organisations in the town are to be contacted, with a view to giving some assistance. Other activities will be decided on by the committee.
It was also resolved that application be made to the physical welfare officer for a free grant towards ths hut. It is hoped that the public will interest itself in this project which is a step in the right direction for making better citizens of the future.
