FRIENDLY HOUR TENT

THE RE-CREATION OF MAN AN INESCAPABLE QUESTION'. (By E.H.8.) • • second week of the Friqndly Hour Tent Mission featured a further ‘ three meetings of wide interest to the large audience and challenging messages given by the missioner, Mr L. . Taylor. The power of God to remake fallen man was the subject dealt with on Tuesday'evening, the speaker showing clearly from the Scriptures that man ; is as a broken vessel, his life destroyed by sin and his relationship with God severed completely. Restoration by reformation or by of environment is impossible, the onlyremedy being for man to be remade. He requires to be born awen. Jesus.' clearly explained this fact to the Jewish ruler, Nicodemus. “ Except a man be born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God,” said Jesus to this .man. This new birth is the implanting of the Divine Spirit in man. Its operation is a miracle, a mystery, but the evidence of it having taken place it revealed in changed lives. This was so in the case of Saul of Tarsus and » his amazing conversion on the Damascus road was the basis of Mr Taylor’s address on Thursday evening. There in the noonday heat, Saul was born again, made a new man in Christ Jesus and became Paul the Apostle. The whole question of the new birth depended upon one’s attitude to Jesus Christ. Acceptance of Him as •Saviour is essential before any work of regeneration takes place in the human heart. Hence no one can evade the inescapable question: “ What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? ” This was the question that Mr Taylor presented the large audience on Sunday evening. This was the question which Pilate sought to evade. This is m question which all must some day answer. Four courses are qpen for you to choose from. You nlay deny the question by setting Christ at naught. But the One whose voice you so contemptuously disregarded shall one day say to you: “Depart from Me, I never knew you.” Or secondly you may neglect Him, meaning some day to think more of the question. “ But how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation? Another opportunity of receiving Christ may not be given you. You may die suddenly unsaved and still in your sinS. Thirdly you may actually reject Christ as Saviour, thus deliberately choosing an eternity of woe rather than everlasting bliss. Or finally you may receive Him, gladly and willingly, recognising your need and God’s gracious provision for that need. —P.B.A.
