WORK NOT DONE
BOARD IS ANNOYED ATTITUDE OF COUNCIL DAMAGE DONE TO DRAINS Some annoyance with the attitude of the Hauraki Plains County Council in failing to attend to repairs required in drains due to damage caused by breaks to water mains, was expressed by members at the February meeting of the Hauraki United Drainage Board. The chairman, Mr C. K. Fox, said that in several places damage had been done to drains as the result of breaks in the water main, but these had not been attended to and the mat-
ter was really quite urgent. He had, he said, spoken to the county engineer some time ago and the engineer had promised to attend to the work but so far nothing had been done. The clerk, Mr R. S. Nicol, said he had also been in touch with the county engineer, who had promised to do the necessary work, but so far nothing had resulted. Mr N. Alach suggested that the board do the necessary work with its own staff and then charge the county for the cost of same. The clerk was instructed to contact the Hauraki Plains County Council asking if it were agreeable to the board doing the necessary work and the council to pay for the cost.
